Duration and implementation

2. Project Period:

This project was scheduled for 2018-2023. The five-year plan includes:

  • opening of 10 active clubs in rural settlements;
  • involving about 1000 teenagers in all activities offered during a year;
  • involving about 1000 teenagers in several activities once a year;
  • involving about 100 volunteers in the project implementation

3. Step by step implementation and activities.

  1. Identifying target village through informed analysis and research.
  2. Identifying and recruiting local volunteers among youth of the designated village. Volunteers are expected to be active youth, concerned with social and spiritual wellbeing of the teenagers. They must be aware of the current social life among local teenagers, their interests. Preferably they should be somewhat confident at this stage that there would be teenagers interested in meetings, rewarding fellowship, sport activities, games, etc.
  3. Identifying and reserving a location for the meeting (further “club”) to conduct weekly gatherings, activities, (free of charge or paid rent of the premises, gym, school auditorium, playground to meet the needs of the club.)
  4. Equipping volunteers and local club with everything needed to conduct all of the planned activities, such as valuable literature, desktop games, sports equipment, outdoor equipment, and monetary resources to cover club’s expense (utilities, food, and small equipment for weekly meetings.)
  5. Club Advertising through creating flyers, posters, invitations, and by word of mouth. Frequently the best advertising is teenagers’ participation in the extreme summer camp, which is organized annually for all club participants. Having been to this camp, teenagers return to their villages and the end of the summer, spread the word, and the whole school is consumed with talks about the “EXIT” project.
  6. Clubs are opened and activities are started usually in the beginning of the school year. This marks the start of weekly club meetings (games, skits, songs, discussions); monthly interclub activities (typically competitions between the clubs from various villages); and seasonal extreme outdoor tent camps (hiking, water rafting, bivouacs, competitions, group discussions).

Since the clubs are located in various towns and villages, it gives teenagers an opportunity to attend events with little expenses. All activities are held free for teenagers. The EXIT Project defrays the expenses, providing facilities, necessary equipment, snacks, drinks (full four meals a day in case of long-term events). The events are organized and held by the EXIT coordinators and volunteers, who are direct leaders of clubs in their localities.
